RIP Mitch Mitchell
I can't believe this news story almost passed without my noticing it.
It seems on Wednesday the Greatest Living Rock 'n' Roll Drummer (in my opinion) passed away.
Mitch Mitchell was the drummer for The Jimi Hendrix Experience, so of course his exceptional drumming was greatly overlooked. (How could you not focus on Hendrix' guitar?) But I've always considered him one of the Triumverate of rock drummers, together with Keith Moon of The Who and John Bonham of Led Zeppelin. Well, at least Mitch made it longer than the others and even died of natural causes (which is saying something for a 60's rock drummer). RIP Mitch. You will be missed, but never forgotten.
