OK, so I was wrong
Well, my prediction lasted a few weeks before dying like most of my other predictions before it.
I probably got what I deserved, because after the Red Sox lost to the Orioles tonight (10 left on base!), I was actually rooting for the Yankees to beat the Rays, so we would stay in first place. Of course, any right-thinking Red Sox fan would trade a half-game deficit to the Rays in May for another humiliating loss for the Yankees (2 games under .500!) There's no I in team. I am contrite.
And now the Red Sox trail the Rays by 1/2 game in the AL East. They finally gave up a share of first place for the first time since April 15.
Well, it's nice to see the lowly Rays finally doing well. This is the first time the Rays have ever been in first place later than the first week of the season. They are currently 7 games over .500, when before this season they had never even been more than 4 games over .500. Ever.
Good for you, Rays. Keep beating up on those Yankees. There's plenty of time this summer for you to fade into our rear-view mirror.
